Ask the Captain
What happens if I need to cancel my charter?
Cancellation is an important topic to understand before you book, and we will be straightforward about how it works.
Industry-standard contracts
Most yacht charters, including Aquanimity, follow industry-standard agreements where deposits become non-refundable after booking. The reason is practical: when you book a specific week, that week is removed from availability for other guests. Provisioning, crew scheduling, and itinerary planning begin well in advance of your arrival.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended
Because of the deposit structure, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with trip cancellation coverage before finalizing your booking. A good policy protects your deposit in cases of medical emergencies, family situations, or other covered circumstances outside your control.
If you book directly with us
Guests who book directly with Aquanimity — rather than through a third-party booking agency — often find us more flexible than a large platform allows. If you need to reschedule and provide sufficient advance notice (typically around eight weeks), we will do our best to move your charter to another available week of similar value.
Last-minute cancellations
Cancellations within a few weeks of your charter date are much more difficult to accommodate because provisioning orders have already been placed and crew logistics are set. We will always try to find a solution, but the closer to the departure date, the less flexibility exists.
The practical advice: book with confidence, protect your investment with travel insurance, and reach out immediately if your situation changes.
