Ask the Captain

What snorkeling gear is provided on a BVI charter?

Yes — snorkeling gear is provided for everyone aboard. You do not need to bring your own.

What is included

Aquanimity carries enough masks, snorkels, and fins to fit every guest comfortably. The gear is well-maintained and sized to accommodate a range of adults. Before any snorkeling stop, the crew will have everything ready on deck.

What the BVI offers

The British Virgin Islands have some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. The waters are warm, clear, and full of life year-round. Some of the standout snorkeling stops on a typical Aquanimity itinerary include:

  • The Indians — dramatic rock formations off Norman Island with excellent fish life and visibility
  • The Caves, Norman Island — swim-through caves with bioluminescent plankton and abundant marine life
  • The Baths, Virgin Gorda — snorkeling among the giant granite boulders and sea pools
  • Anegada reefs — the most remote and pristine reef system in the BVI, with sea turtles, rays, and reef fish
  • Wreck of the Rhone — one of the Caribbean’s premier wreck dives, also accessible to snorkelers in the shallower sections

If you have prescription goggles or your own gear

Bring it. Some guests prefer their own mask for fit or visibility reasons, and that is completely fine. The boat gear is there as a backup and for guests who have not brought their own.

Children and beginners

The crew is happy to help guests who have never snorkeled before. The calm, clear waters of the BVI are an ideal place to learn — visibility is excellent and the fish are curious and plentiful.
