Can I fish from the boat?
Yes — and it is genuinely fun when something hits the line.
Not a fishing charter
Aquanimity is a luxury crewed catamaran, not a dedicated fishing vessel. We do not carry heavy tackle, downriggers, or specialized fishing equipment. Fishing is a bonus activity, not the main event — and it is important to set that expectation correctly before you arrive.
What we do have
We keep fishing lines aboard and enjoy putting one out when we are underway. Trolling a line during a passage is one of those simple pleasures that occasionally produces genuine excitement. Barracuda and blue runners are the most common catches in BVI waters, and reeling one in while the rest of the group watches from the cockpit is a memorable moment even for guests who have never fished before.
The experience
Think of fishing on Aquanimity the way you might think of it at a barbecue — casual, spontaneous, no pressure, and genuinely enjoyable when it works. If a fish comes aboard and the group is excited, the chef can prepare it. If nothing bites, you enjoyed the passage anyway.
If fishing is a primary goal
If catching fish is a major priority for your charter — specifically deep-sea fishing, fly fishing, or going out for specific species — we would recommend looking into dedicated sport fishing charters in the BVI that specialize in that experience. We are happy to point you in the right direction. Aquanimity will give you a wonderful week, and fishing can absolutely be part of it, but it will not be the focus.
