Can I smoke on the boat?
Smoking and vaping are permitted on Aquanimity only on the sugar scoops at the rear of the yacht. Nowhere else aboard — not the cockpit, not the decks, not the flybridge, and never below deck.
Where smoking is allowed
The sugar scoops are the two steps at the very back of each hull, right at the waterline. That is the one place smoking is allowed, and the crew will show you exactly where when you board. It is open air, at the stern, well away from the living quarters and dining areas. Follow the crew’s direction on when conditions make it unsafe.
Why the rest of the boat is off limits
A boat is a small space and the wind moves smoke around it. Below deck, smoke gets into the cabins, the upholstery, the bedding and the ventilation system in ways that are very hard to remediate. On deck and in the cockpit it carries straight into where everyone else is sitting and eating. At the stern it goes over the water. That is why the rule is specific rather than general.
Cigars and e-cigarettes
The same rule applies. Cigars, e-cigarettes and vapes go on the sugar scoops, not on deck and not in enclosed spaces.
Please be considerate
If you plan to smoke during your charter, simply mention it before arrival. There are no surprises and no judgment. The crew will point out the sugar scoops when you board and make sure everyone in your group is comfortable with the arrangement.
