Is the catamaran air-conditioned?
Yes. The guest cabins are fully air-conditioned and you will sleep comfortably every night.
Overnight air conditioning
The air conditioning runs throughout the night in all three guest cabins. The BVI is warm but overnight temperatures typically stay in the low 80s, and the AC makes the cabins genuinely comfortable for sleeping.
During the day
During the day, with guests moving freely and spending most of their time on deck, the cabin doors stay open and the AC is typically turned off. You will not need it. The trade winds in the BVI provide excellent natural ventilation while the boat is at anchor or underway. The open cockpit and deck areas stay comfortable even in summer.
Generator and shore power
When anchored without shore power, the generator runs to support air conditioning in the evenings and overnight. The crew handles this, and you will not be woken up by it.

How It Works on a Catamaran
Aquanimity runs its air conditioning system through the generator, which operates quietly during nighttime hours. Each cabin has its own controls so you can set your preferred temperature independently. The salon also has climate control for the rare hot, still evening.
During the day, most guests prefer the natural ventilation. The BVI’s trade winds flow across the deck and through the salon, keeping the boat comfortable without mechanical cooling. The combination of open-air sailing by day and air-conditioned cabins at night is one of the things that makes a catamaran charter more comfortable than most people expect.
What About Humidity?
The Caribbean is humid, but the onboard AC dehumidifies your cabin overnight. Sheets stay dry, clothes stay fresh, and you wake up comfortable. Many guests sleep better on the boat than they do at home.
