What is a sleep-aboard option on a yacht charter?
A sleep-aboard is exactly what it sounds like — you board and sleep on the yacht the night before your charter officially begins.
How it works
Most charters start on a Saturday or Sunday morning. A sleep-aboard option allows guests to arrive at the marina the evening before — typically a Friday — board the boat, get settled into your cabin, and wake up already aboard and ready to go rather than rushing to the marina on your charter start day.
The crew will be aboard to receive you and help with bags. The boat is provisioned and ready. You settle in, sleep in your cabin, and the charter begins the following morning with breakfast and your first passage.
Why guests choose it
The sleep-aboard is particularly valuable if your group is flying in from multiple locations, if you have a long travel day, or if your flights are arriving in the late afternoon or evening. Rather than rushing from the airport to the marina and trying to jump into charter mode while still travel-weary, a sleep-aboard lets you arrive at your own pace, settle in comfortably, and start fresh the next morning.
It also effectively gives you an extra evening on the water — dinner aboard at the dock, cocktails on the deck, waking up to the marina ambiance before you even cast off.
What is not included in a sleep-aboard
A sleep-aboard typically adds a half-day charter rate to your total. Meals the evening of the sleep-aboard may be a simpler affair as the crew is also winding down from preparation. Full charter service — morning-to-evening crew availability, full provisioned meals, all activities — begins on your official charter start day.
