Anegada Lobster Dinner BVI | Fresh Catch & Reef Snorkeling | Aquanimity
The BVI's Most Remote Island · World's Third-Largest Barrier Reef

Anegada: Lobster on the Beach, Reef at Your Feet

Anegada is flat, remote, and surrounded by the third-largest barrier reef in the world. The lobster is fresh, the snorkeling is untouched, and the sunsets are the best in the BVI. Captain Gino times the passage carefully — it's worth every mile.

Anegada requires a dedicated passage — it sits 14 miles north of the main BVI chain, across open water. Captain Gino makes the call based on weather and timing. When conditions are right, it's never a question — you go.

Day by Day

The Top Spots

The Passage North
An early departure from Virgin Gorda or North Sound puts Anegada in reach by midday. The approach through the reef requires local knowledge — Captain Gino has made it dozens of times. The turquoise water color change as you enter the lagoon is unforgettable.
🤿
The Barrier Reef
Anegada is surrounded by the third-largest barrier reef in the world. The snorkeling is pristine — eagle rays, nurse sharks, lobster, and untouched coral. Charter guests are often the only people at the best spots.
🦞
The Lobster Dinner
Order early in the afternoon and they're ready at sunset — grilled whole, served at long tables on the beach with local sides. The Anegada Beach Club and local beach bars both do it well. Chef Nikita can also prepare lobster aboard for something even more special.
🌟
Overnight at Anchor
Staying overnight on Anegada is optional but worth it. The anchorage is quiet, the stars are extraordinary with no light pollution, and sunrise over the reef flat is a genuine highlight of the charter.
🏖️
Loblolly Bay
The north shore of Anegada has some of the finest white sand beaches in the Caribbean. Loblolly Bay is wild and undeveloped — often completely empty. Sea glass, shells, and complete solitude.
🧭
The Sail Back
The return passage to the main BVI chain is typically downwind — fast, comfortable, and scenic. A morning departure from Anegada with the trade winds behind you is one of the best sails in the islands.

Common Questions

FAQ

Anegada is famous for three things: fresh lobster grilled on the beach at local beach bars, its spectacular barrier reef — the third-largest in the world — and its wild, flat, undeveloped character. It feels nothing like the rest of the BVI.
The Anegada Beach Club and Tipsy's Beach Bar are two popular spots. Lobster is ordered earlier in the day and grilled fresh at sunset. On Aquanimity, Chef Nikita can also prepare fresh Anegada lobster aboard for an incredible dinner at anchor.
Anegada is about 14 nautical miles north of Virgin Gorda, making it a half-day sail from most BVI anchorages. The approach requires navigating the surrounding reef — Captain Gino knows the channels and has made the passage many times.
Anegada's barrier reef is largely unexplored by typical tourists. Eagle rays, lobster, nurse sharks, and untouched coral gardens are all common. Visibility is exceptional on calm days. It's bucket-list snorkeling by any standard.
Absolutely. Guests who visit Anegada consistently call it a charter highlight. The combination of remote atmosphere, spectacular reef, and that lobster dinner is unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean.
